This new 33,000 square feet Health Sciences Center is constructed on 54-acres due north of the Belmont College main campus. The site is located on reclaimed strip mine land consisting of pyritic shale bedrock.
The new facility sets the architectural tone for the extension of the current campus. The building includes space accommodating the College’s Science, Nursing, Medical Assistance, and Emergency Medical programs. This includes classrooms and laboratories for General Biology, Microbiology, Human Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, and Physics.
The building also offers support space consisting of laboratory storage and preparation, chemical storage, cadaver/simulation lab, faculty offices, conference rooms, student lounge/cyber café, and childcare center.
In addition, development of the project site involved construction of multiple roadways within the new campus property, accessible parking, pedestrian walkways, site lighting, landscaping and utilities.
